KIMI Racing was founded in 2009 by automotive parts designer and car enthusiast Sam Kang. What began with hands-on automotive service grew into a workshop for repairs, modification, restoration and race car builds for local competition.
It started with our own race car.
Building his own MINI R53 for racing, Sam faced the same challenge many enthusiasts know: ambitious plans and a limited budget. Rather than simply buying every part, he began designing his own.
KIMI Racing’s first product was a set of four rear suspension control arms with metal spherical rod ends for the MINI R53. Refined through three versions, the design included a hexagonal adjustment point to make installation and alignment easier. More MINI parts followed, shaped by experience working on the cars themselves.

Sam’s enthusiasm extends from cars to the tools used to care for them. Years of repairing, modifying and building cars have reinforced a simple belief: experience matters, and the right equipment helps put it to work.
Our Irvine workshop brings that approach to everyday maintenance and performance projects, with equipment including:
- Three German MAHA 3.5-ton screw-drive lifts, dedicated to our supercar service bays.
- Two Rotary AV10 4.5-ton lifts in our tire workshop, dedicated to larger vehicles.
- CORGHI Artiglio Master 28 for leverless tire mounting and demounting.
- CORGHI EM 9780 C Plus for wheel balancing.
- HAZET torque tools for wheel service, including Porsche GT3 center-lock removal and installation.
- BMW and Porsche dedicated diagnostic systems for vehicle diagnosis.
- A 72-inch Snap-on Master Series tool cabinet, part of our ongoing investment in workshop tooling.
Five service bays, one shared commitment to your car. With three MAHA-equipped bays and two Rotary-equipped bays, our Irvine workshop has five service bays for customers’ repair, maintenance and tire service needs.
